Jim Mather, Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism, was in Dundee on the 28th April 2009 to visit the Lawside Works Training Academy.
Lawside Works was developed by Hillcrest Housing Association to provide an excellent standard of affordable housing, supported housing and the training academy itself.
The training academy is home to Craig Owl Communities'Hospitality training academy and Hillcrest's Toolbox project and apprenticeship training programme. Partly funded by ERDF and ESF funding the academy offers people the chance to get skills and experience to start off their working life or kick start their return to work.
John Mulloy, Hillcrest Group Chief Executive commented that ; ''It was good to see the Minister supporting our project. The Academy is an asset to the local community.''
Ian Lindsay and Steve Coutts representing Brown Construction were introduced to the Minister, Brown Construction completed the construction and conversion of the former mill building into the Academy for Craig Owl and Hillcrest. Brown Construction also supports the Apprentice Training programme for both Bricklayers and Joiners.
