Keswick Terrace, Dundee
Provision of 34 social housing units for Servite Housing Association on the site of former tenement housing, saw lightweight timber frame construction used for the houses and traditional construction for the flats. The existing ground conditions and remaining substructures from the demolished tenements resulted in ground stabilisation by vibro compaction stone column piles being necessary. Sustainability was a key driver for this project, with the highly insulated homes being served by a district heating system using Flexallen underground distribution pipework from a central boiler plant. In addition, domestic hot water was provided by use of roof mounted solar heating panels. Keswick Terrace was designed by KDM Architects, Broughty Ferry.
