Currently under construction, 51 social housing units are being provided as part of the Lochee Area Regeneration Programme and has a combination of lightweight timber frame and traditional construction being used. Key to the scheme are the central core area which will provide a communal, semi-private, landscaped area incorporating children's play area for residents to enjoy, as well as the provision of two cutting edge homes set to employ techniques of construction and methods of heating that meet future government targets in terms of energy efficiency and carbon footprint. These homes will provide a vision of the future for social housing providers in terms of sustainability, affordability and life-cycle costing and are seen as an important step forward in this market sector.
